It’s not just League One’s top goalscorer that has a cracking eye for goal amongst Posh’s ranks
Ivan Toney has averaged a goal every 118 minutes in League for Peterborough United this season, with his 24 goals helping the club into the play-off places.
But while the former Newcastle United striker is seemingly banging them in for fun this season, we can’t forget some of the best solo and team goals from elsewhere in the squad.
From Marcus Maddison’s free-kick at home to Sunderland, to Joe Ward’s last-gasp belter against Burton Albion. There’s been plenty of memorable moments.
Maddison’s cracking opener away to MK Dons set the tone for a high-scoring afternoon at Stadium MK, as Mo Eisa also chipped in with a belter during a resounding 4-0 win in August.

And Maddison was at it again the following week, with the first of his two goals against his boyhood club Sunderland being a stunning free-kick in a memorable 3-0 win.
Posh had endured a shaky start to the season, but certainly seemed to be finding their feet in the league and continued that in the Football League Trophy with a satisfying 2-0 win at Northampton and Siriki Dembele’s brilliant solo effort.
Maddison, once again, came up with another sublime goal and compounded the Rochdale’s keeper’s misery with an audacious chip in a thunderous 6-0 victory.
Louis Reed and Joe Ward rocketed efforts into the net on consecutive weekends in October, against Lincoln City and Gillingham respectively.
Posh’s number 11 wasn’t going to let his teammates steal his limelight for long though. A cheeky lob – similar to the one bagged against Rochdale – came at Accrington Stanley’s cost days before an unstoppable effort ensured Posh avoided a shock early exit away at Stevenage in the FA Cup.
However, Ward was also at it again in November, warming up with a sweet free-kick into the top corner versus Cambridge United in the Football League Trophy, before a thunderously unforgettable last-minute winner at home to Burton Albion.
To round off what has, so far, been a season spoilt for fantastic goals for Posh, Dan Butler most recently drove a low long-range effort in at Fleetwood, although Posh wouldn’t leave with any points that day.
